BREAKING THE SILENCE SURROUNDING CAMPUS SEXUAL ASSAULT, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE.
Many survivors find power in sharing their stories.
LCSN was created with the intent of providing a place for survivors to share their stories anonymously without fear of retaliation from the institutions they belong to.
LCSN is dedicated to providing peer support through the "Letters to Survivors" series and by creating a safe community for survivors to connect with each other.
LCSN also works to make survivors aware of local and national resources available to them.
Campus sexual assault, domestic violence, and sexual violence are complicated issues that aren't discussed enough.
LCSN creates educational blog posts and Instagram graphics to educate on these issues.
Hi everyone! My name is Alexandra Zimmer and I am a 2019 graduate of Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida. During my time in undergrad, I was involved with many organizations that sought to provide services and support to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, including local nonprofits, my sorority Alpha Chi Omega, Guardian ad Litem, and internships in the State Attorneys Office, as well as co-founding the Florida Southern College Chapter of the No More Campaign Against Domestic and Sexual Violence as an alumna with one of my sisters.
I created the Lakeland Collegiate Survivor Network (LCSN) in 2021 with the objective of providing a place for survivors of campus sexual assault, domestic violence, and sexual violence and their allies in Lakeland, Florida to share their stories of survival while also informing them of their options for local resources and their rights as survivors.
I now also try to use LCSN to educate anyone who comes across us on Instagram or this website on the various aspects of domestic and sexual violence like rape culture, the effects of social media, experiences of the LGTBQ+ and BIPOC communities, Title IX, mental health, and anything else that needs to be talked about more.
There is power in being present in the fight against violence. Sometimes you don't want to be helped, you just want to be heard - Lakeland Collegiate Survivor Network strives to do all of the above.
